How to Remove Mold on Antique Wood Furniture
Nothing damages antique wood furniture faster than exposure to water. Water causes mold and mildew to form on the wood, eventually weakening the structure of the wood and permanently damaging the product. If you see mold or mildew building up on the wood you need to remove it as quickly as possible to prevent the mold spores from spreading to other areas of the wood.

1
Combine water with around a three quarter cup of bleach into a large bucket. At the same time fill a second bucket up with water.
-
2
Dip the sponge into the bleach and water mixture, then squeeze out the excess. You don't want the sponge extremely wet, otherwise the water can end up causing further damage to the furniture.
-
-
3
Rub the sponge over the problem areas of the antique wood.
-
4
Rise off the area with the clean water, then allow the wood furniture time to dry.
-
5
Repeat the process again for any mold still on the antique furniture (it is often hard to see what the wood is wet).
-
6
Dry off the wood furniture with a clean rag. This prevents the water from soaking into the wood and weakening the furniture.
