How to Tie a Fashionable Head Scarf

Look chic and sophisticated in any head scarf.

When you think of fashionable head scarves, you may think of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly or Jackie Onassis. Head scarves are great for wearing during a blustery day, while riding in a convertible or just because you're in the mood. One challenge when wearing a head scarf is tying it correctly so that it doesn't slip or fall off. Grab a scarf and start practicing the ever-fashionable look.

Things You'll Need

• Rectangular or square head scarf, any size

Instructions

1. Lay your scarf out flat. Grab the scarf by both ends, and place the scarf directly on the middle of your head. You'll want the scarf to sit about 1 inch from your hairline.

2. Pull the right side of the scarf down so that it is about 5 inches longer than the left side.

3. Crisscross the scarf's ends in front of your neck and pull them around to the back.

4. Wrap the longer end of the scarf (the right side) over to the left side. Tie the two ends together in a knot or a bow.

Tips & Warnings

• For some color, add a brooch to the knot of the scarf.
