How to Uninstall LimeWire on a Mac

Uninstall LimeWire from your Macintosh computer.

LimeWire is a file-sharing application available for both PCs and Macintosh computers, and while it is a peer-to-peer program that provides media sharing with other users, it is recommended to only share media you have the rights to in order to avoid copyright infringement. Unlike Windows PCs, the uninstallation process of LimeWire on your Macintosh computer is a simple task of dragging and dropping. Once in the Trash bin, be sure to securely delete the application as well as remove the Incomplete folder in the Documents section of Finder, as this folder contains incomplete downloads from LimeWire.

Instructions

1. Click the "Finder" icon on your screen's dock and click the Applications tab in the sidebar, or click "Go" at the top of the screen and click "Applications" from the drop-down menu.

2. Click the "LimeWire" icon in the Applications window to highlight it, and select "File" at the top of the screen.

3. Select "Move to Trash" from the drop-down menu, and enter your system administrator name and password. Click the "OK" button to confirm the deletion of the application.

4. Click the "Finder" icon on the dock, and click the "Documents" tab in the sidebar. Click the "Incomplete" folder to highlight it, click "File" at the top of the screen, and select "Move to Trash" from the drop-down menu.

5. Click the Trash icon on your screen's dock, and click "Finder" at the top of the screen.

6. Select "Secure Empty Trash" from the drop-down menu, and click "Secure Empty Trash" on the dialog box.
