The creators of LimeWire were ordered to stop distributing the software in 2010. Because the service has been shut down, it's not doing you much good on your computer. On Macs running OS X Yosemite, uninstall applications such as LimeWire by dragging them to the Trash and then emptying it.
Before you uninstall LimeWire, make sure you’ve closed the application. You can’t uninstall a program that’s currently running. Once you’ve shut LimeWire down, click the “Finder” icon on the dock. Click “Applications” on the left of the Finder window and scroll down through the list of applications until you locate LimeWire. Programs are listed in alphabetical order. Click the “LimeWire” application icon and drag and drop it onto the Trash icon on the Dock. Hold down the “Control” key, click the “Trash” icon on the Dock and select “Empty Trash” to finish uninstalling LimeWire.
You can also uninstall LimeWire using Launchpad. Click the “Launchpad” icon on the Dock or in your Applications folder. Scroll through the app icons until you locate LimeWire and then click and hold it until the icon begins to jiggle. Click the “X” button to uninstall LimeWire.
