Instructions

    • 1

Scrub the shower tiles clean with dish soap or cleanser and a scrubbing pad. Wipe the cleaned towels off with a rag and let them dry.

    • 2

Roughen the surface of the tiles with sandpaper or a palm sander. Sand hard enough to break through the finish, so that paint will adhere properly. Clean the tiles with water and a rag to remove the dust and allow the tiles to dry.

    • 3

Tape off any areas you don't want painted. Use painter's tape and newspaper.

    • 4

Apply a bonding agent to the tiles to help the paint stick. Pour the agent on cheese cloth and rub it on the tiles. Let the agent dry. Brush on an epoxy primer and let it dry according to the manufacturer's directions.

    • 5

Apply an acrylic polymer for the final coat, using a paint roller and brush or a paint sprayer. Get creative and paint your tiles several colors. Paint a border around the shower by making the outermost tiles a different hue, paint patterns on individual tiles or paint a picture or design using the whole tiled space.
