How to Send an SMS Message to a Sprint Cell Phone thumbnail
Sprint offers several choices for sending SMS messages to Sprint phones.

Sending an SMS message to a Sprint cell phone is an easy way to get in touch with a friend or business contact when they are unavailable by phone and your message doesn't require the formality or length of a voice mail. If you don't want to send a text message directly from your phone, Sprint offers two choices, regardless of your own wireless provider.

Instructions

  1. Via Email

    • 1

Launch your email client. Load the email software or Web-based email site you regularly use. Log in using your user name and password.

    • 2

Address the email to phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com. For example, if sending a message to (313) 555-1212, address the email to 3135551212@messaging.sprintpcs.com.

    • 3

      Compose the message.

    • 4

Click the "Send" button in your email client to have the SMS message sent to a Sprint cell phone.

    Via the Internet

    • 5

Visit the Sprint SMS website, which offers a Web-to-SMS tool that lets you send messages (see Resources section).

    • 6

Click the "Sign On" button to enter your user name and password, or create a new one. Authentication is required to dissuade users from sending unwanted, anonymous text messages.

    • 7

Enter the body of your text message into the text box onscreen.

    • 8

Press the "Send" button to have your SMS message forwarded to the Sprint cell phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cell phone SMS messages are limited to 160 characters per message. If your SMS is longer than 160 characters, it will be split into multiple messages when sent.
