How to Make Folded Paper Hats
Folded paper hats make a great accessory for a child's pirate party, Halloween costume or just as a fun craft on a weekend afternoon. Paper hats can be made out of a variety of materials, but newspaper is the simplest option because it is easily accessible and creates a folded hat large enough to fit most heads.

1
Take half of a piece of newspaper and fold it in half. The standard size of a newspaper is 21 inches long, so the folded section of your newspaper should be 10.5 inches.
-
2
Fold the top corners inward until they meet near the center of the newspaper. Crease the folds so that the folded edges meet to form a straight line. The closer you can fold these edges, the more secure the top of the hat will be.

Create a bill around the sides of your hat by folding up the bottom edge on both sides of the newspaper. Here is where you can get creative. You may choose an over-sized fold to create a hat reminiscent of Peter Pan, or a smaller fold that looks more like a cone. Either way, the folded bill makes a great finish to the hat and helps keep the folded corners together while you wear your hat.
