Bees will make their home in flower beds.

One of the best places for a bee to make its home is in a flower bed. The bees will pollinate the flowers, which benefits both the bee and the flower. Unfortunately, bees can sting a human if the human accidentally comes in contact with the bee. This can be dangerous for individuals who are allergic to bee stings. In this case, you will want to kill any bees living in your flower beds. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Empty the bottles of water into a pitcher and place it in your refrigerator. You can use this water later on for drinking or cooking.

    • 2

Cut the top portion of the water bottles off with a razor blade. Make sure you cut where the bottle starts to slant toward the lid.

    • 3

Fill each water bottle halfway with tap water.

    • 4

Add dish soap to the water in each water bottle, and give it a stir.

    • 5

Smear grape preserves all over the neck of the bottle. Flip that top piece of the bottle upside down and set it over top of the bottom half.

    • 6

Tape the two pieces of the bottle together with the masking tape. You now have five homemade bee traps.

    • 7

Set the bee traps around your flower garden. The bees will enter because they will smell the preserves. They will then get stuck in the soapy water and drown.

    • 8

Empty and refill every couple of days until the bottles no longer contain bees.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use an insecticide that is pyrethroid based, but killing the bees yourself this way is dangerous. You should use an exterminator if this is the route you want to go.
