Make Internet Explorer 7 open a link in the same tab.

Internet Explorer 7 features tab browsing that allows you to open tabs for different web pages instead of separate web browser windows. This is a useful feature when you need to refer to several web pages at the same time. Your browser also at times automatically opens new links under a new tab. You can turn this feature off, however, if you do not like it. Turning this functionality off means that links you open will appear in the same window and tab.

Instructions

    • 1

Double click the Internet Explorer 7 icon on your desktop. If you do not have an icon, click your Start button, scroll up, click "All Programs" or "Programs," find Internet Explorer 7 and click on it. The application will open.

    • 2

Hit "Tools" in the main menu bar. Scroll down and click "Internet Options."

    • 3

      Hit the "General" tab.

    • 4

Click the "Settings" button in the "Tabs" section.

    • 5

Remove the check mark next to "Enable Tabbed Browsing."

    • 6

      Hit the "OK" button.

    • 7

      Restart your browser.
