-
2
Crochet two half-treble stitches in each stitch for a total of 20 half treble stitches.
-
-
3
Crochet two half treble stitches in every other stitch for a total of 30 half treble stitches.
-
4
Add two half treble stitches to every third stitch, for a total of 40 half treble stitches.
-
5
Add two half treble stitches to every fourth stitch around, for a total of 50 half treble stitches.
-
6
Crochet one half treble stitch in every stitch around, adding five more stitches evenly spaced for a total of 55 half treble stitches.
-
7
Crochet one half treble crochet in each stitch around until the hat reaches your desired size.
Make the Ear Flaps
-
8
Decide which portion of your hat will be the back of the hat, measure in 5 cm on each side and mark with a stitch marker.
-
9
Start on one of the sides and crochet 12 half treble crochets from the stitch you marked, going towards the front of the hat, turn.
-
10
Crochet four rows of stitches to make the ear flap, making a half double crochet in each stitch across, but decreasing each row by one stitch until only six stitches are left.
-
11
Finish off and weave in ends.
-
12
Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make the ear flap on the other side.
-
13
Edge the bottom of the project with a simple double crochet row that is crocheted in every stitch around the bottom edge of the project you just finished, including the ear flaps. Finish off and weave in ends.
