Instructions

  1. Using an External Print Server

    • 1

Purchase an external print server for your LaserJet 4P printer. A number of external print servers work with this printer, including part numbers J3263A, J3265A and J2591A.

    • 2

Connect the parallel port of the LaserJet 4P to the external print server. Connect a CAT5 cable from the RJ45 connection on the external print server to the network port on the wall.

    • 3

Log on to a computer on your company network and send a test page to the printer. Make sure the page prints correctly.

    Using an Internal Network Card

    • 4

Turn the LaserJet 4P printer off and remove the power cord. Locate the slot for the network card.

    • 5

Remove the screws from the network slot cover and set them aside. Remove the cover from the network slot cover.

    • 6

Slide the network card in place and secure it with the thumbscrews. Be sure to slide the card in the whole way--you will feel the card snap into place. Secure the network card with the thumbscrews.
