Becoming a haircut model requires some time and preparation.

Becoming a model for haircuts in a magazine may at first seem like it would be easier than being a runway fashion model, but the career path is very similar. Any sort of model should put together a portfolio and try to work her way up the ladder in a given area of modeling. Though, for haircut models, there are some slight differences.

Instructions

1. Put together a portfolio. Have a professional photographer take some pictures of you with your hair in a variety of different styles. Choose the pictures that you feel best showcase your look and focus on your hair. Most of your pictures will likely be head and shoulder shots from a variety of different angles.

2. Get an agent. This isn't strictly a part of the process, and you can become a successful model without an agent, but having an agent represent your interests can make becoming a haircut model easier.

3. Look for job openings. Often hair salons or magazines will advertise their need for hair models in classified sections and on the Internet (craigslist.org is one place to look). Usually there will be an "open call" for models and it will be like one, big job interview. Bring your portfolio and be professional as possible when you apply for the open positions.

Tips & Warnings

• The more work you have in related fields, the better you will look as a candidate. While it may be your end goal to be in magazines, don't turn down work in advertising or as a hair salon model. It will strengthen your resume.
