How to Burn MP3 Files to a CD
MP3 files are music files that can be played on a computer with MP3 player software or on MP3 player devices such as an iPod. You may wish to create backup copies of the MP3 files on your computer. You may also wish to convert your MP3 files to an audio CD format so you can play them on a CD player.

Create a Data CD

Insert a blank CD-R disc into your computer's CD burner and close the disc tray.

Start the CD-burning software application on your computer. If you do not have a CD-burning software application, see Tips to find one.

Select the application's option to create or burn a Data CD. Use the application's documentation to find that option.

Add MP3 files from your computer to the CD content area in the application. Most applications allow you to drag MP3 files from an open folder on your desktop into the application or to browse for MP3 files on your computer. Click the "Finalize CD" button or option to finish creating the data to burn to the disc.

Click the "Record" or "Burn" button in the application to burn the files to the CD. A progress indicator displays that the burning process is complete.

Open the CD in your computer's file browser to view and play the MP3 files on the CD.
Create an Audio CD

Insert a blank CD-R disc into your computer's CD burner and close the disc tray.

Select the application's option to create or burn an Audio CD.

Add MP3 files from your computer to the CD contents area in the application. The application automatically converts the files to a playable format when it burns them to the disc.

Click the "Record" or "Burn" button in the application to burn the files to the CD.

Tips & Warnings
Most PCs have burning software applications already installed. Many computers suggest an application for you to run automatically when you insert a blank CD-R disc into the CD burner. If you need to download a CD burner application, some popular free choices are Windows Media Player, iTunes and Winamp.
