How to Clean Ceramic Stove Grates

      Lay newspapers or a towel in the middle of the stove. Remove the grates and rest them on the newspapers or towels.

      Open a window and spray oven cleaner on the grates. Pick up the grates with gloves and spray underneath. Allow the oven cleaner to break down the food particles for three hours.

      Move the grates to the sink. Scrub the grates with steel wool. Pour liquid dish washing soap on the steel wool and continue to scrub.
