Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the cable connection running between the Lexmark printer and your computer. Make sure the cable is securely inserted into both the USB port on the printer and your computer.

    • 2

Disconnect the USB cable from your computer, then insert it into a different USB port. USB ports die out occasionally, in which case you need to use a different connection.

    • 3

Inspect the Lexmark printer to see if it is powered on (the power switch lights up). The print requests from the computer may not reach the Lexmark if it is not set as the default printer. Click "Start > Control Panel > Printers." Right-click the Lexmark printer and select the "Default" option. This puts a small check by your Lexmark printer, making it the default printer of choice. Now every time you print a document it runs through the Lexmark printer.

Install the drivers for the Lexmark USB printer. Without the printers you computer may not possess the ability to function with the computer. A driver installation CD is provided with the printer. After inserting the CD into the computer, a driver installation wizard appears on the screen. Follow the set of prompts to finish installing the drivers for your Lexmark USB-based printer.
