How to Program My DIRECTV Remote to a Symphonic TV

Your DIRECTV remote will control more than just the satellite receiver. These universal remotes can also control DVD players and television sets. This gives you the option of putting away your other remotes and only using the DIRECTV remote. Before you can use the DIRECTV remote with a Symphonic TV, that remote must be programmed with the television. The DIRECTV manual lists specific codes that will allow you to quickly program the remote with the Symphonic TV.

  • Press the "Power" button located on the Symphonic TV in order to turn the device on.

  • Point the remote at the TV.

  • Move the device slide switch at the top of the remote to the "TV" option.

  • Press and hold down both the "Select" and "Mute" buttons for about five seconds. The light underneath the "TV" icon on the remote will flash twice. When this happens, release the "Select" and "Mute" buttons.

  • Enter the code "10180" or "10171." According to the remote's user manual, either of these codes will work for programming the remote to a Symphonic TV.

  • Press the "Power" key on the remote. The DIRECTV receiver should power down. If it does, the remote has been programmed properly. Otherwise, start the programming process over at Step 3.
