How to Clean Grease From Leather Upholstery

Grease stains can be a real nuisance, especially if they are located on your expensive leather upholstery. Fortunately, there is a do it yourself method that is easy to complete and costs nearly nothing to achieve. The method calls for simple household supplies without requiring any hard physical labor. Save yourself expensive cleaning fees by trying this home remedy, and that grease stain will soon be a distant memory.

Things You'll Need

• 2 clean dry rags
• Talcum powder
• Clean soft toothbrush
• Hand-held vacuum cleaner

Instructions

1. Blot the grease with a clean dry rag.

2. Sprinkle just enough talcum powder to completely cover the grease stain.

3. Rub the talcum powder into the stain with a clean soft toothbrush. Use circular motions to loosen the grease residue.

4. Let the talcum powder sit for five hours.

5. Wipe the talcum powder away with a clean dry rag.

6. Vacuum any remaining powder residue with a hand-held vacuum cleaner.

Tips & Warnings

• If talcum powder is not available, cornstarch may be used as a substitute.

• Never use water in an attempt to clean oil or grease stains. Water will cause the stain to become larger.
