How to Make Decoupage Earrings

How to Make Decoupage Earrings thumbnail
Express your creativity with a pair of decoupaged earrings.

Decoupaging a set of earrings for yourself or for a gift means creating something special without breaking the bank. Look for images which mean something to you or the gift's recipient. A cat lover, for instance, may enjoy earrings with cat images. Decoupage gives you an opportunity to make something unique and express your creativity.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a coat of paint to the top and sides of one wooden disc. Once the paint has dried completely, apply a coat of paint to the back of the wooden disc. Allow the paint to dry completely. Repeat this step and add another coat of paint to the same disc.

    • 2

Lay one wooden disc (now painted) on a flat surface with the top facing down. Glue one soldered ring, with the jewelry adhesive, to the top of one wooden disc just below the disc's edge. Make sure to center the ring. Let the glue dry completely.

    • 3

Find a pretty image or design from a magazine, or elsewhere, and cut or shrink the image on a copy machine to fit the wooden disc. Use sharp scissors so the edges look clean. Add some craft glue to the back of the image and place the image on the top side of the wooden disc. Allow the glue to dry completely.

    • 4

Brush one coat of decoupage glue to the top and sides of the wooden disc. Allow the glue to dry and add another coat to the top and sides. Get creative and sprinkle glitter on the wet glue. Let the glue dry completely. Attach one earring wire to the soldered ring using the pliers. Repeat the above steps on the second wooden disc.
