How to Download the Sims2 Skins With Zip Files

Sims2 gives players the ability to design and create new skin files for their Sims. These skin files can give the player the option to change the skin tone, clothing, hair and sometimes even accessories. Often, the skin downloads are compressed into zip files to make it faster to download and share. To install Sims2 skins from a zip file, you will need decompression software, such as WinZip or Zipper.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the Sims2 skin as a zip file. There are many sites online that offer free Sims2 downloads such as The Sims Resource, Around the Sims 2 and Parsimonious.

    • 2

Go to the folder where your zip file is saved.

    • 3

Use your decompression software to unzip the folder. Usually, you can right-click on a zip folder and choose “decompress” or “unzip.” You will be prompted to choose a location on your computer where the software will create a new decompressed folder.

    • 4

Navigate to the decompressed folder and open it. Sims2 skin files usually have a \".package\" file extension.

    • 5

Install the new Sims2 skin by copying the .package files and pasting them into your game’s “Downloads” folder. This is usually located inside of the “The Sims 2” folder in the “My Documents” of your Windows user profile: “C:\\Documents and Settings\\{user profile name}\\My Documents\\EA Games\\The Sims 2\\Downloads.”

    • 6

Launch the Sims2 to see your newly installed skins. New clothing, accessories and skin tones will become an option when you create a new Sim.
