Windows Vista features a Sleep and Hybrid Sleep mode that allows the computer to operate in a low power state that saves power but allows the computer to quickly boot back up. If you want, you can disable Sleep and Hybrid Sleep so that the computer will not enter these modes.

Instructions

      Click the "Start" button, click "Control Panel" and then open the "Power Options" section.

      Click "Change plan settings," click "Change advanced settings" and then expand the "Sleep" section by clicking on the plus symbol.

      Click "Sleep After" and then set both options to "Never."

      Click "Allow hybrid sleep" and then set both options to "Never."

      Click "OK" to apply the settings. Sleep mode is now disabled.
