Making your own decals is one way to customize the look of a toy race car. With modern technology, it is easy to design decals and make them for your car. Instructions

  1. Making the Decal

    • 1

Find the image or design you want for your decal. The decal design needs to be on your computer's hard drive. There are many designs available online, or you can design one using a number of computer programs.

    • 2

Turn on the printer connected to your computer. Make sure the connection between the printer and the computer is secure at both ends. Load some regular printer paper into the printer and send the image to be printed to the printer. Make note of which side of the paper the printer prints on. Make any necessary adjustments to the size of the decal image.

    • 3

Remove the printer paper from the printer and insert a sheet of decal paper. It is important you put the sheet in so the adhesive side of the sheet is not printed on. Send the decal image file to the printer again. Be very careful not to touch the actual image on the sheet until you are sure the ink has completely dried.

    • 4

Cut out the decal image. Scissors are good for cutting out the general shape of the image, and a utility knife can be used to make precise cuts around the borders of the image.

    • 5

Peel off the backing over the adhesive side of the decal. Attach the decal to the toy race car.
