How to Replace a Bathtub Faucet Handle
A bathtub faucet handle needs to be replaced for any number of reasons, such as when the handle discolors and becomes an eyesore in the bathroom, or if the handle develops cracks or becomes stripped, rendering it useless for controlling the flow of water. Purchase the proper handle for the style and brand of faucet in your bathroom and in less than five minutes you can change the entire look of the faucet and make it functional again. Place the blade of a flat-head screwdriver under the edge of the button cap in the middle of the handle. The button cap may have a C or an H on it or have the word cold or hot imprinted on it. Pry up around the edges of the button cap until it is completely removed.

Unscrew the screw at the center of the handle using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Remove the handle from the valve stem.

Remove the button cap from the new handle. Place the new handle on the valve stem. Ensure the handle is securely in place. Fasten the screw through the center of the handle and into the valve stem. Press the button cap into the center of the handle so it covers the screw.
