How to Make S'mores
They've been a treat at campfires for generations and always leave everyone wanting "some more." Makes one s'more.

Gather around a warm campfire with friends or family.

Break a graham cracker into two halves. Place one quarter of a chocolate bar on one half of a graham cracker.

Stick one large marshmallow on the end of a wire or clean stick. An unwound wire hanger works well.

Hold your marshmallow several inches over the hot embers of the fire.

Rotate the wire as the marshmallow cooks, allowing the marshmallow to become lightly browned all over.

Place the browned marshmallow on top of the graham cracker and chocolate.

Place the other half of the graham cracker on top of the marshmallow, creating a sandwich.

While firmly holding the two graham crackers together, pull the wire out of the marshmallow.

Wait about 30 seconds for the warm marshmallow to melt the chocolate.

Eat the s'more after allowing it to cool. You'll want some more - so return to step two.

Tips & Warnings
It's best to work in teams of two. One person can roast marshmallows while the other prepares the graham crackers and chocolate.
You can also make s'mores in your fireplace at home, or even in the oven.
Some s'more lovers like their marshmallows well-done. These people (sometimes referred to as "flamers") stick the marshmallow deep in the fire so that it catches. This makes a marshmallow that's black on the outside.
Try different variations of chocolate bars, such as white chocolate or chocolate bars with almonds. You can also use cinnamon or chocolate-covered graham crackers. Be adventurous.
If you use a stick to cook your marshmallows, make certain to avoid using poison oak (it loses its leaves in the late fall but still produces the toxic oil on its stem) or other plants that can cause allergic reactions.
Never touch a hot roasted marshmallow with your bare fingers.
Always exercise caution around a campfire.
Be careful to keep hot marshmallows and wires away from other campers.

Today I had a big craving for s'mores. We are re-doing our house, so the house we are temporarily in doesn't have a gas stove. We didn't have any chocolate bars, so instead I used 8 chocolate chips. I put them on the graham cracker, then I put the marshmallow on top of them and kept it open. Then I put it all in the microwave for 15 seconds, then I put the second graham on and heated another 6 seconds.... yummy! -

Add banana slices before the chocolate. The chocolate will melt and prevent the banana from slipping out. So Delicious!!

One summer at the Cape, a group of us were stuck inside (rain). We discovered that a regular gas stove works great for indoor S'mores. Someone also discovered that his Zippo lighter did the job, but I wouldn't advise it!

When making S'mores add a little different flavor by trying different types of chocolate. Dark, white etc. Also, put a little peanut butter on the graham cracker before closing it up.
