How to Change Answer Tones

How to Change Answer Tones thumbnail
Change the answer tones on your cell phone.

All cell phones are able to be customized for your own personal preferences in everything from the home screen display to message alert sounds and ring tones. Answer tones, or ring tones, are the sounds that play when you receive an incoming call. Most phones will let you set different ring tones for specific callers and certain types of callers, such as private and unknown callers. The process for changing these settings are similar from phone to phone, but the specific navigation will depend on your brand and model.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your cell phone and select the "Menu" button.

    • 2

Select "Settings." For instance, on the LG Xenon touch screen phone, touch the "Quick Key," select the "Settings" icon (which looks like a gear). On the Samsung Rant, press the "Menu" button to access "Settings." Use the navigation keys to select it.

    • 3

Select "Sounds" from the "Settings" menu.

    • 4

Select "Ringtones" or "Ringer Types." Select "Incoming Calls" if you have the option.

    • 5

Select a category for ringer types, such as "With Caller ID" or "Without Caller ID," if available.

    • 6

Preview and select a ringtone for incoming calls for each category. Press "OK" to assign the ringer.

    • 7

Select the alert type, if available. These may include a ring, ring and vibrate, or ring after vibrate.

These instructions are for ring tones not answer tones. There is an apparent difference.
