How to Make Embroidery Thread Bracelets
Making bracelets out of embroidery thread is an inexpensive and popular craft to do with scouts, church groups and even at birthday parties. Kids call these creations friendship bracelets and wear them on either their wrist or their ankles. Of course, the whole idea is to make a bracelet and give it to someone you like, or are "friends" with, and hope that they, in return, make you a bracelet as well.

1
Cut three lengths of embroidery floss, each 24 inches long. Most embroidery floss comes as six-strand. Using all six strands in each length will give a wider finished bracelet, and will be easier for younger children to work with. You may choice one, two, or three colors of embroidery floss to make a simple braided bracelet.
-
2
Tie the three lengths tightly together with an overhand knot. Try to keep the ends even, but trim if necessary.
-
3
Tape the end with the knot securely to the edge of a table or the back of a chair. Separate the strands by color if more than one color of embroidery floss is used. There should still be three groups regardless of the number of colors used.
-
4
Hold the embroidery thread on the left in your left hand and the embroidery thread on the right in your right hand. This leaves one group free.
-
5
Place the right length over the middle length. It will now become the middle length. Place the left length over the middle length so that it becomes the middle length. Continue alternating from left to right until the bracelet is long enough to fit comfortably around a wrist or ankle.
-
6
Tie an overhand knot in the loose end to keep the braid from coming undone. Trim the ends. Tie the two knotted ends together to hold the bracelet in place on the wrist or ankle.
