How to Remove a Car Door Panel From a Jeep Cherokee
Access to the inner workings of the doors on your Jeep Cherokee requires removal of the inner door panels. Whether the front or rear door, the panels come off using the same basic process. Be careful that you do not scratch the surface of the panel as you work. Once the panel is off, store it in a safe place until you are ready to install it back on the door. This will ensure no damage occurs to the panel while it is off the Jeep.
Things You'll Need

1
Open the door and roll the window all the way down. Remove the window crank handle with a crank removal tool. If you do not have a crank removal tool, you can buy one at most auto parts stores.
-
2
Locate the screws in the upper door panel. There are three screws, one in the top of the door handle, one in the trim under the door latch release and one on the front of the armrest. Remove all three of these screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

3
Move to the bottom of the panel and using a flat putty knife or trim stick, pop the panel away from the door along the bottom edge. The plastic pins that hold the door may pop out, but be prepared that they often break no matter how gentle you are with them.
-
4
Pull the panel out slightly and lift it up to remove it from the window track at the top of the door. Disconnect the rod attached to the handle on the back of the door panel.
-
5
Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the power door locks by pushing the locking tab on the connector and pulling it free. Remove the panel from the Jeep.
