How to Determine Proxy Settings

It's easy to determine proxy server settings on a Windows Vista- or XP-based computer. Proxy servers act as a go-between between the client and the server computers connected via a network like the Local Area Network (LAN). With a proxy server in place, you no longer interact directly with the file/information server on the network. All communication to and from the server is routed in through proxy server.
