When you're hosting a successful political talk radio show, it's important to respect your guests even when you disagree. You can point out the areas where you disagree, but it's not fair to belittle your guests. You should also thoroughly research the issues that you'll discuss on the program, because this shows that you care about presenting credible information.

Instructions

1. Invite guests who have diverse opinions on a certain issue. This is important because you don't want to present a one-sided view of a topic. If you plan to discuss claims of racial profiling by police, have guests on both sides of the issue. Give each guest equal time to discuss his views.

2. Add some humor to the discussion, if possible. Humor keeps the show from being completely dull. Make sure the humor is in good taste. Do not use humor when the situation involves a recent death or a tragic situation in the community.

3. Incorporate your own analysis. This makes the program more interesting.

4. Treat difficult callers with respect. For example, if a caller deviates from the topic, politely tell him that you appreciate the comments but in the interest of time, he will have to stick to the subject. If a caller starts to argue with you, thank the caller and tell him that you have to move on to other callers.
