There is a much quicker way to pay your bills without ever leaving the house. You can do this by making your credit card payments over the Internet. It takes a few minutes to sign up for an online account with your credit card company, but it saves you time and postage over time.

      Check the credit card company's website to see if it accepts Internet payments. Pick a credit card that you wish to pay online and navigate to the company's website. Explore the website to see if you can create an account to view your credit card information and pay the bill online. If this information cannot be found, then locate the contact information for the company on the website and call the company to inquire whether you can make payments over the Internet.

      Create an account on the website. Exercise this step with caution, be sure that you are on the credit card company's actual website and beware of sites that try to "phish" your information for identity theft. In order to view your credit card information and make payments, you must first have an account on the website. Begin by clicking a link that says "enroll" or "register." This will then prompt you to enter personal information and credit card information, such as the credit card number, the expiration date, and the card identification number or card verification value (CVV) number.

      Click the icon taking you to the bill payment page when you are logged in to your account. This icon will generally say "pay bill," "make payment," or something similar. This will then prompt you to enter your bank account information. You will have to enter your bank's routing number, your bank account number, and state whether it is a checking or savings account. The bank's routing number and your account number can be found on the bottom of your check or deposit slip. If you do not have a check or deposit slip, you can contact your bank and request the information.

      Enter the amount that you wish to pay as a credit card payment on the bill pay website after you have entered your bank account information.

      Click the icon that submits the payment. In order to pay the bill, you must submit the payment. The link that submits the payment will usually be called "submit," "pay now," "pay bill," or something similarly worded.

      Write down the confirmation or verification number. After the transaction is complete, you will receive a notice that contains a confirmation number or a verification number, and you should write this down or print out this page for your records. This is used to show that you have paid your bill.
