Take your corporate email on the go by setting up a BES account.

BES, or BlackBerry Enterprise Server, is a part of the BlackBerry email client that is able to connect to, retrieve and send e-mail through a corporate server that uses Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, or a comparable program. Setting up the BES on your BlackBerry phone is a very simple process and only takes a few minutes.

Open the email utility on your BlackBerry phone. If this is the first time you have used the email utility, a setup wizard will automatically appear. If not, you will need to press the BlackBerry menu button and then select "Settings" from the menu.

Select "BlackBerry Enterprise Server" from the menu as the email account source and then enter your account information. This includes server name, user name and pass code. You may need to contact your server administrator for specific information.

Finish the setup utility and then press the "OK" button. Emails from your server account should begin syncing with your phone automatically.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a Web mail account in addition to a BES account, they will each have their own mail icon on your BlackBerry home screen. However, if you go to the general mail icon, you will see messages from all your accounts together.
