Soccer is a fun sport that offers players a variety of benefits such as getting in shape, making friends and spending time outdoors. Soccer uniforms are often covered in an eclectic mixture of colors, words and pictures. From the pros on down to the youngest players, soccer jerseys are some of the most colorful and exciting sports jerseys around. Making a custom jersey is a good way to show someone that you care, and it's a gift that should actually get used--especially if it says "you won."

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the size jersey you will be using to make the "you won" jersey. Soccer jerseys tend to run a little larger than normal clothing.

    • 2

Decide on the color scheme you will be using for the jersey. It's a good idea to buy a light-colored jersey so that added text will be easily legible.

    • 3

Create the "you won" design on your computer. If you are just writing "you won," you can use a program like Microsoft Word and make the print very large on a landscape-oriented page. If you want to add other illustrations or design elements, you should use a program like Adobe Illustrator to create a more detailed and colorful image. You can also have someone design the image for you. If you want to draw the design and scan it into your computer, you can do that as well.

    • 4

Print out the "you won" design on iron-on transfer paper, which can be purchased at most office supplies stores. Before printing, make sure to reverse the text and image, so that when you iron it onto the soccer jersey, the text will read correctly.

    • 5

Iron the design onto the soccer jersey in the spot where you want it to appear. Follow the iron-on transfer paper ironing instructions closely, which should have come with the paper. If you don't feel confident ironing directly onto the shirt on your first try, then you can do a practice run on a plain white T-shirt.

    • 6

Wash the jersey in cold water and air dry it to make the design last as long as possible. Read through the iron-on transfer paper recommendations for taking care of the jersey.

Tips & Warnings

  • When ironing a design onto a shirt, it helps to use bold and thick lines. Thinner lines tend to wear off more quickly and are harder to read anyway.
