How to Change the Clock Time in a 2000 Monte Carlo SS

Save

The 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS's clock can be changed with or without the key in the ignition. The clock is built into the factory radio. If you've installed an aftermarket radio, you'll need to refer to the specific instruction manual to change the clock time. The Monte Carlo SS uses the same radio-head unit as the standard Monte Carlo, so the programming procedure is same between models.

  • Locate the Hour and Minute buttons (labeled "HR" and "MN") on your radio. They are located directly beneath the Tune knob.

  • Press and hold the "HR" and "MN" buttons (at the same time) for two seconds. Release the buttons, and then press and hold the "HR" button to set the time. The hour display will advance one hour at a time. Release the "HR" button when the hour is correct. Pay attention to the "AM" and "PM" icon next to the display.

  • Press and hold the "MN" button to advance the minute display. Release the button when the minute is correct.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your Monte Carlo SS is equipped with RDS (Radio Data Systems), you can also set the time to synchronize with a radio station. If your radio has this feature, it will have "RDS" in the upper-right corner. To synchronize with a radio station, tune to the station and press and hold the "MN" and "HR" buttons for a few seconds. The time will update to the station's broadcast time.
