Refer to your online tax preparation software first if you e-filed your Virginia tax return. Most online tax preparation software prompts you to set up a name and password when you initially begin using the software in order to set up a tax profile. The software then stores your prior year returns on the company's server and can be accessed merely by logging on. From this point, you can print out the prior year returns or review the return for the information needed.
Call the Virginia Office of Customer Service at 804-367-8031 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to request a copy of your income tax return. You should allow about seven to 10 days mailing time to receive the return in the mail.
Logon to the state of Virginia's iFile messaging center to email a request for a copy of your income tax return. To use the messaging center, logon to the Virginia Department of website at www.individual.tax.virginia.gov. From there, click on "Individuals," then click on "Online Services." Next, click on "secure message online." Here you can enroll to exchange information and requests from the Virginia Department of Taxation. You'll need "enroll" button located under the "New Users" heading and follow the prompts and provide the information requested.
Go to the local state of Virginia Walk-In office to request a copy of your tax return. The office is located at 3610 West Broad, Richmond, VA 23230. The hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
