Over the range microwave ovens are available in a variety of sizes and designs. The basic similarity between these microwaves is that they are made to be mounted a few feet above the stovetop. Compare the available over the range microwaves on the market by their cubic feet capacity to determine which will hold the least and the most.
Things You'll Need
Make note of the manufacturer name and model number of each available over the range microwave variety at local small appliance retailers.
Open the door of each microwave and take a measurement of the height, length and width of the internal compartment in feet. Write these figures next to the corresponding manufacturer name and model number.
Multiply the height, length and width figures from each microwave to get a capacity total in cubic feet for that microwave. A microwave that is 1/2 a foot tall, 1 1/2 feet wide and 1 foot deep would have a total capacity of .75 cubic feet.
