How to Make a Go Cart Engine More Powerful
Most go cart enthusiasts take their hobby seriously. Many go cart owners desire speed and search for techniques to enhance their go carts' performance. There are several ways to speed up a go cart. However, one of the crucial components of a go cart's speed is the power of the engine. Go cart experts have discovered several methods of increasing the power in a go cart engine.

Install a turbocharger or supercharger. This is a common method used to increase speed. These devices increase combustion by compressing air in the engine's combustion area, which thoroughly burns the fuel for an increasingly vigorous reaction. Prior to installing a turbocharger, you must ensure that the engine is clean from contamination or dirt buildup. Additionally, it is vital that you replace the oil and oil filters as well as repair or replace oil pressure lines if you notice signs of wear and tear. Start the engine in order to prompt oil flow in the pre-lubrication process. Once the oil flows from the oil drain, attach the new or repaired oil drain to the turbo charger. Fasten the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold. Once you have systematically examined the exhaust system, install the oil inlet to the turbocharger. The bearing housing drain sits slightly off-center, less than 30 degrees. Make sure all nuts and bolts are secure before mounting the air pipes to the turbocharger. Allow the engine to sit idle for roughly five minutes to ensure that the oil, air and exhaust systems are functioning properly.

Replace a conventional air system with a high flow air system, such as K&N Filters or Uni Foam. Create an intake hose with aluminum, steel or PVC. Install a rubber connector between the intake tube and the carburetor. It is vital to inspect the air system to avoid loose clamping or air leaks.

Fine-tune the engine. Simply upgrading the spark plugs enhances the speed of an engine. Replace weathered spark plugs with advanced performance spark plugs.

4
Alter the fuel. Add 91 percent rubbing alcohol to your gas tank. An even fusion of gas and alcohol provides the engine an immediate boost in speed. Since many go cart racers commonly use octane 93, try adding octane boosters to the gas. If possible, begin using higher-octane fuels. Add nitrous oxide to the fuel system and you will notice a dramatic increase in engine power.

5
Replace the go cart engine with a higher-powered lawn mower engine or even a motorcycle engine. This is only possible if the engine fits into the go cart's engine compartment, or you add onto the compartment.
