Start the lawn aerator engine and allow the engine to warm up.

Locate the adjuster bracket that connects to the adjuster spring on the handle of the lawn aerator.

Turn the adjusting nut clockwise with a wrench to tighten the cable and increase the engine speed. Turn the adjusting nut counter-clockwise to loosen the throttle cable and decrease the engine speed.

Engage the clutch to determine if the throttle speed is correct. If the clutch engages too soon the engine will stall, which will require raising the engine speed. If the engine speed is too high, you will not be able to use the gradual start feature.
