How to Make a Turtle With Flower Pots
Children love animals. They also love to make crafts. You can combine the two to create a really fun activity that the children are sure to remember. You can make a turtle from a flower pot. You can use this craft at home with your children, at school with your students, or at church with your Sunday school kids.
Things You'll Need
- Newspapers
- 1 terra cotta flower pot for each student
- Green paint
- Paintbrushes
- Green pom poms
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Green felt
- Scissors

Give each child a sheet of newspaper to place in front of them. This will keep the tables and desks from getting paint on them.

Hand out one flower pot to each child and have them flip it upside down. This is the turtle's shell.

Tell the children to paint their turtle shell green. If you want to allow them to make designs on the turtle's shell, you may want to give them some more paint colors.

Instruct the children to glue four pom poms to the flower pot to act as the turtle's feet, and one pom pom to the front of the flower pot to act as the turtle's head.

Give each child a set of googly eyes and have them glue the eyes on the turtle's head.

Cut a bunch of small triangles out of a sheet of felt. Give one to each child and have them glue the triangle on to the back of the flower pot. This is the turtle's tail.

Tips & Warnings
You may want to have the children paint their name on the inside of the flower pot before they begin painting the outside. This way the children will know whose turtle is whose.
