How to Tie Balloon Bouquets
A balloon bouquet makes an appealing decoration or gift. The balloons in bouquets are filled with helium and therefore need to be tied to keep from floating away. You can tie the balloons to a weight, a chair or to each other. A basic knot, like one for tying your shoe, works to hold the balloons in place. Note, if you are just tying the balloons together, this won’t keep them from floating away. This practice is usually used when giving or selling individual balloons. Does this Spark an idea?

Cut one strand of ribbon per balloon with scissors. Make the strands as long as you want.

Tie one end of the ribbon to the bottom of the balloon, over the balloon knot.

Wrap the other end of the ribbon around the weight. Tie a double knot around the weight.

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with all of the ribbons. To make the balloons in the bouquet different heights, wrap more of the ribbon tied to some of the balloons around the weight before you tie the knot.

If you aren't using a weight, gather the balloons together. Grasp the ribbons with your fist three-quarters of the way down the ribbons. Tie a large knot.

To tie the balloon to a chair, thread the ribbons through the back of the chair. Tie the ribbon ends in a single knot to secure in place.

Tips & Warnings
Use any item you want for a weight; it just needs to be heavier than the balloons. Some suggestions: a rock, a balloon weight, a book, a wrapped gift.
