Create an email associated with a Windows Live ID.

The Windows Live network system allows you to use a single Windows Live ID to access online features such as instant messaging, online storage and email. If you want to use an email associated with a Windows Live ID, it is simple to set up and will keep you connected to your Windows Live network with a common user ID and password.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Windows Live network website (see Resources) and sign in using your Windows Live ID. If you do not have a Windows Live ID, press the "Sign up" button on the left side of the screen and fill in the necessary information to get a Windows Live ID.

    • 2

Click on the "Go to Hotmail" link on the Windows Live home page. Windows Live mail is routed through Hotmail, and you can choose an email address that is either "@hotmail.com" or "@live.com."

    • 3

Accept the terms and activate your account. If you have been using your Windows Live ID for other services, you will not need to enter any additional information. If your Windows Live ID is new (and Hotmail is your only service), you will need to enter additional information (such as your zip code).

    • 4

Activate your account and the login using your Windows Live ID and password. If you are using other Windows Live services, they will automatically be integrated into your Windows Live email.
