When you purchase the DSL Internet service from Qwest you will receive a modem from them either on loan or to buy if you do not have your own DSL modem. The Actiontec GT701 is one of the DSL modems you may receive if you ordered a wireless DSL modem. Everything you need to set up your Actiontec GT701 comes in the box Qwest sends you.

Instructions

    • 1

      Plug the phone filters in every phone outlet that will have a telephone attached to it. Plug the phone line into the phone filter.

      Plug the Actiontec GT701 into the wall socket with the provided power cord. Wait for the “Power” light to turn green.

      Plug the Actiontec GT701 into a phone line without a filter on it with the green Ethernet wire. Plug the Ethernet cord into the “Line” port of the modem. Wait for the “DSL” light to turn green.

      Plug your Actiontec GT701 into your computer with the yellow Ethernet wire. Wait for the “Ethernet” light to turn green.

      Open your Web browser and type in "http://192.168.0.1" in the address bar. Hit “Enter.”

      Click “Basic Setup” and input a new user name and password. Click “Next” and “Finish.”

  • Leave all of the Internet settings the same unless you are an advanced user.
