How to Get the Spare Tire Off a 1992 Sonoma Truck
The 1992 GMC Sonoma's spare tire is easily viewed beneath the bed. If you want to replace the spare tire, check its inflation level or change a flat tire, you'll need to get the spare tire out of its mount. The Sonoma's spare-tire compartment uses a retainer cable to secure the tire. The jack set included with your Sonoma contains the tool needed to get the spare tire off the truck.

Rotate the wheel wrench's handle counterclockwise to release the spare tire. The tire will slowly lower from its mount. Continue turning until the tire touches the ground.

Grasp the metal retainer beneath the spare tire. This secures the spare to the cable. Turn the retainer up to slide it through the center of the spare tire. The spare tire is now free.
