Sirius Satellite Radio Installation Instructions
Installing Sirius Satellite Radio gives you access to many commercial-free music and entertainment stations that you cannot access through terrestrial radio. While there are several Sirius Satellite Radio devices to choose from, the installation process is the same. Everything you need to get started comes packaged in your Sirius Satellite Radio hardware self-installation kit.
Things You'll Need
- Valid Sirius Satellite Radio subscription
- Sirius Satellite Radio receiver
- Sirius Satellite Radio antenna
- Sirius Satellite Radio cradling dock (optional)
Instructions

1
Connect the Sirius Satellite Radio receiver to power. Insert the power adapter into an electrical outlet or a car cigarette lighter.
-
2
Connect your Sirius Satellite Radio to the antenna. Insert the antenna's signal output cable to the satellite radio receiver or the cradling dock's "antenna in" port.
-
-
3
Connect the Sirius Satellite Radio receiver to your stereo system. Sirius dock players have ports in which your satellite radio receiver may cradle for connectivity and power. Non-docking receivers connect using an audio input cable. This step is not necessary for stand-alone radios, which contain Sirius Satellite Radio receivers.
-
4
Aim the antenna due south and place it where it has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Make sure there are no trees or buildings between your satellite antenna and the southern sky. Avoid aiming the antenna through window blinds, screens or non-glass panes. Attach the antenna to the top of your car if you have purchased an automobile unit. Run the antenna wire through the rubber casing on your rear windshield and into the trunk of your car. Connect the wire to your satellite receiver or dock as per Step 2, making sure to tuck the loose wires away.
-
5
Activate your Sirius Satellite Radio receiver by calling Sirius customer service or visiting the Sirius website and following the setup instructions. The customer service number will be included in your Sirius Satellite Radio hardware package and will also show on your receiver display when you first connect it.
