How to Restore a Dell Monitor to Factory Settings

If your Dell monitor is experiencing problems, a quick solution is to restore the monitor to its factory settings. Unlike many monitor brands, Dell monitors can be reset within Windows by using third party software which is available online free of charge.

Things You'll Need

  • Dell monitor
  • Computer running Windows
  • Go to http://www.entechtaiwan.com/lib/softmccs.shtm in your Web browser. Download the softMCCS software by clicking on the word “softMCCS” which is located next to the disc icon in the top left portion of the window.

  • Download the softMCCS software by clicking on the word “softMCCS” which is located next to the disc icon in the top left portion of the window.

  • Click “Run” when prompted and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of softMCCS.

  • Run the softMCCS program once the installer has completed.

  • Scroll down in the softMCCS window to “Preset Options” and then click the Green restore arrow located to the right of the “Restore factory defaults” option. The screen will now turn black and then turn back on.

  • Click the green restore arrow located to the right of the “Restore factory geometry defaults."

  • Click on the green restore arrow located to the right of “Restore color defaults.”

  • Close the softMCCS software and click “no” if prompted to keep your new settings. The monitor is now restored to its factory settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Leave the softMCCS software installed on your computer for quick access if you need to restore your monitor again at a later date.
