1
Cover your memory board in bright, cheerful fabric. You can go with a retro design, a thematic pattern or even multiple swatches of vintage fabric, but avoid letting the background overpower your memory board decorations.
-
2
Pull the fabric taut across the surface of the memory board. Staple or glue your fabric to the back of the board and trim away any excess fabric.

3
String ribbon across the surface of the memory board. Traditional memory board displays feature criss-crossed satin ribbon. To recreate this look, staple ribbon in the shape of a large "X" across the memory board. String ribbon at the same angle, evenly spaced along the board. You can either glue or staple the ribbon into place, leaving gaps for inserting objects.

Arrange photographs, art postcards, doodles, drawings, tickets and other memorabilia on your board. Avoid symmetrical displays which do not allow individual pieces and details to stand out. Try grouping pieces in odd numbers, with different heights and widths.

5
Create a theme. Devote a section of your memory board to a special trip, a memorable experience, a hobby, a loved one or a place. Arrange images as well as lightweight, three-dimensional objects that address the theme. For example, a photograph and art postcard from Paris may also feature a small pin of the Eiffel Tower and a napkin from a sidewalk cafe.

Tips & Warnings
Extend your memory board by stringing a fishing-wire clothesline from one bottom corner to the other. Use paper clips to hang postcards and photographs from the fishing wire.
