How to Reverse Text in Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop offers artists and graphic designers a wide variety of tools in addition to its renowned photographic editing capabilities. Users can combine photographic elements with text and flat artwork to create unique new digital art. One of the advantages of Photoshop’s myriad photo effects and blending tools is that they frequently can also be applied to non-photo elements such as text. Users can reverse the direction of text with a single command using the program.

Things You'll Need

  • Adobe Photoshop software
  • Open Photoshop and create a new document by selecting “File > New” from the application menu. Set the dimensions for your document and click “OK.”

  • Select the “Horizontal Type Tool” from the Tools Panel to the left of your canvass. Click once on the canvass in the spot you would like the type to appear. Select attributes like font, style, size and color for your type in the Tool Options Panel above the canvass. Type your text.

  • Select all of your text by typing “Ctrl + A” (“Command + A” on a Mac). Select “Edit > Transform> Flip Horizontal” from the application menu. This will reverse your text.
