How to Clean a Black Glass Cooktop
Black glass cooktops add style and convenience to the kitchen. Just like any other type of stove or cooktop, glass cooktops become dirty. Food, grease, dust and other grime accumulate on the cooktop, making cleaning a necessity. Don't purchase a special glass cooktop cleaner; use common household products to clean black cooktops quickly and with ease. It is easiest to clean black glass cooktops immediately after cooking so that food and grime does not have time to harden onto the surface; however, you can even clean spills and debris that have been on the cooktop for an extended period with relative ease. Things You'll Need
- Water
- Dish soap
- Soft sponge
- Soft rags
- Empty spray bottle
- White vinegar
- Baking soda

Fill the kitchen sink with warm water. Add a few drops of dish soap, and mix up the soltuion with your hands.

Dip a soft sponge into the water. Wring out the sponge well.

Wipe down the black glass cooktop with the sponge and soapy water. Apply moderate pressure when cleaning. Rinse and wring out the sponge often.

Go over the glass cooktop with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture and any remaining residue.

Fill an empty spray bottle with white vinegar if the cooktop needs further cleaning. Spray the dirty glass cooktop liberally with the vinegar.

Sprinkle baking soda onto a clean, damp sponge. Scrub the cooktop with the sponge.

Wipe down the glass cooktop with a damp rag. Rinse out the rag frequently to avoid spreading the baking soda residue. Go over the cooktop with a dry rag to remove any traces of water or baking soda.

Tips & Warnings
Always wait until the indicator light is off before cleaning. Glass cooktops are equipped with these lights to let you know the surface is cool.
Use a plastic scraper to loosen caked-on food and buildup from the glass cooktop.
Do not use steel wool pads, abrasive cleaners, chlorine bleach or ammonia when cleaning glass cooktops.
