How to Measure for a Replacement Wall Oven
When remodeling your kitchen or just replacing an old wall oven, you must measure the existing cabinetry for the replacement wall oven. Most appliances are built to fit within certain perimeters. The do-it-yourself handyman can measure the existing cabinets and determine the space required for the new appliance. Turn off the circuit breaker to the wall oven. The fuse box should be numbered to indicate the correct fuse for the wall oven. Double check that the oven is off before you proceed to the next step.

Use a power screwdriver to remove the mounting screws for the existing wall oven. Open the door of the wall oven to gain access to the mounting screws. Remove the mounting screws that hold the wall oven from moving when you use the oven. Keep the screws to replace after measuring the rough opening of the cabinetry.

Slide the wall oven out of the cabinet a couple of inches to gain access to the cabinets rough opening. Be careful as you pull it toward you. If you pull the wall oven too far, it can tip and fall out toward you.

Measure the width and the height of the cabinet's rough opening. The depth is standard. Write these dimensions down on a piece of paper.

Push the wall oven back into position, and replace the mounting screws. Turn the circuit breaker back on. You can now use the old wall oven until you receive the new one.
