Homemade Ice Fishing House
An ice fishing house is designed to keep you warm while you fish and also offers a few other creature comforts. A little different from an ice shelter, the ice fishing house is a permanent or partially permanent structure that is installed on the ice. It still needs to be removed before ice out, so the structure should be light enough to move with manpower. This design allows you maximum wind protection and comfort without placing a lot of weight on the ice.

1
Construct the frame of your ice fishing house walls from four sections of two-by-four boards connected by three-inch galvanized nails. Build them in four-foot-wide and six-foot-tall frame sections. In one section, leave a two-foot-wide and six-foot-tall door section framed in two-by-four boards.
-
2
Build a two-by-four board frame structure that is four feet square, attaching each two-by-four together with galvanized nails. Lay a sheet of half-inch plywood on top of this frame and nail it to the frame with three-inch nails.
-
-
3
Mount the four-foot by six-foot frame sections to the top of the floor frame and secure them using three-inch galvanized nails. Drill galvanized wood screws to connect the edges of the frames.
-
4
Cut four-foot by six-foot sections of half-inch plywood with a table saw and attach them to the outside of the wall frames with two-inch wood screws and a power driver.
-
5
Build a five-foot square frame from two-by-four boards for the roof section. Drill two-inch wood screws to attach this to the top of the wall frames using metal angle braces. Cut a five-foot square sheet of half-inch plywood and attach it to the top of the roof with two-inch wood screws and a power drill.
-
6
Attach six-inch strips of fiber board to the underside of the roof overhang with two-inch wood screws. These will act as eaves for the house.
-
7
Cut two two-foot-wide and five-foot-high sheets of quarter-inch plywood with a table saw. Then, cut two five-foot lengths of two-by-two boards and two two-foot lengths. Apply wood glue to the edges and attach them to the quarter-inch plywood sheets, creating a door for the house.

Tips & Warnings
If you want a finished interior, size and cut drywall and install this inside the wall frame sections before mounting them to the floor using drywall screws and joint compound.
