DSL to Wireless Router Tutorial
DSL (digital subscriber line) is a form of high-speed Internet where data is transferred over phone lines. The phone line is connected to a DSL modem, which converts the signal into a high-speed Internet signal. To set up a wireless network using DSL, the DSL modem needs to be connected to a wireless router.
Things You'll Need
- Wireless router
- DSL modem
- Telephone cable
- 2 Ethernet cables
- Computer
- Wireless router installation CD

Telephone cable Connect the telephone cable from the telephone jack to the back of the DSL modem.

Ethernet cable Connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the DSL modem. Ethernet cable is generally thick and brightly colored.

Connect the Ethernet cable to the Internet port on the back of the wireless router.
The Internet port should be clearly labeled on the router. For brand-specific location of the Ethernet port, refer to the user's manual.

Turn on only the DSL modem.

Connect an Ethernet cable to an open port on the wireless router.
The ports should be clearly numbered, and there should be at least four.

Insert the wireless router installation CD into the computer

Follow the installation wizard to configure the wireless router. When prompted, turn the wireless router on and unplug the computer from the wireless router. DSL should now be working with the wireless router.
