Instructions

    • 1

Pull out everything under the sink. Turn off the two water shut-off valves located under the sink. There is one for the cold water and one for the hot water. Turn both clockwise to shut the water off.

    • 2

Remove the old sprayer, if there is one. Most faucet sprayers have a 3/8-inch nut that connects the sprayer hose to the faucet. Use a wrench to remove this nut.

    • 3

Locate and remove the hose weight attached to the hose under the sink. This weight is used to pull the hose back down under the sink after you use the sprayer. The weight is made of two pieces connected together by two screws. Remove these screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver, and remove the weight from the hose.

    • 4

Remove the retaining nut that holds the grommet in place. The grommet is the ring the sprayer sits on when not in use. Use a pair of channel lock pliers to remove the nut from underneath the sink. Pull the sprayer, hose and grommet out of the sink from the top.

    • 5

Attach the new sprayer head to the new hose according to manufacturer's directions. Usually this is done by screwing the sprayer head onto the hose and tightening it with a wrench. Put the new grommet onto the sink. Go back under the sink, attach the new nut and tighten it with channel lock pliers to secure the grommet in place.

    • 6

Push the faucet end of the sprayer hose down through the grommet from the top of the sink until the sprayer head sits on the grommet. Go back under the sink. Wrap plumber's tape around the thread on the faucet where the sprayer hose connects.

    • 7

Attach the sprayer hose to the faucet threads. Tighten the hose with a wrench. Place one of the pieces of the hose weight at the bend in the sprayer hose where it turns toward the faucet. Attach the other piece to the first one. Use the two retaining screws to fasten the weight pieces together. Tighten them with a screwdriver.

Turn the two water valves back on by twisting them counter-clockwise. Run water through the faucet and test the new sprayer. While the water is running, use a flashlight to look underneath the sink for any possible leaks.
