How to Bunny Hop in Counter Strike 1.3

Save

An online tactical first-person-shooter, Counter Strike pits terrorists versus counter-terrorists across several levels and game modes. One of the more popular moves in Counter Strike is the "bunny hop," which allows your character to move forward using small jumps, making him a more difficult target. Performing the bunny hop requires only a few key binds and a little practice.

Things You'll Need

  • Mouse with scroll wheel
  • Open the "Counter Strike" program folder on your hard drive. Open the "cstrike" folder within.

  • Within that folder, open the file "userconfig.cfg" with Notepad. If you do not have this file, create a new document in Notepad and save it as "userconfig.cfg."

  • Add the following two lines to the bottom of the document:

    bind "mwheelup" "+jump"
    bind "mwheeldown" "+jump"

Save the document and close Notepad. These key binds will make your character jump when you spin the mouse wheel up or down.

  • Open Counter Strike and enter a private match so that you can practice bunny hopping.

  • Run forward and jump. While in the air, hold down "A" or "D," making your character pivot left or right. As you approach the ground, rapidly spin the mouse wheel so that you will immediately jump upon contact.

Bunny hopping is the combination of pivoting and continous jumping. In order to move in a straight line, you must alternate your in-air pivoting using "A" and "D."

  • Practice moving down a long hallway or across an open area while bunny hopping. With practice, you will be able to maneuver around each level with bunny hopping, making you far more difficult to shoot.
